This presentation project gave our class the opportunity to learn about influential individuals from different periods of history and understand how their actions helped shape the world we live in today. Each group focused on a different era and introduced several people whose leadership, determination, creativity, and dedication allowed them to leave a lasting impact on society. Although every presentation covered a different time period, they all shared a similar message: meaningful change often begins with people who are willing to take action and challenge the world around them. One thing I especially enjoyed throughout the project was seeing the variety of slides, images, videos, and creative presentation styles that each group used to bring their topics to life.

The first group explored changemakers from the 1700s. Their presentation provided a strong introduction to the historical foundations of government and political thought. Several important figures were discussed, including George Washington, John Locke, Benjamin Franklin, James Madison, and other leaders whose ideas influenced the development of democratic government. I thought the group did a great job explaining not only who these individuals were but also why their contributions still matter today. The videos they included helped explain complicated historical concepts in a simple way, making the information easier to understand. Their presentation showed how leadership, cooperation, and innovative thinking played a major role in shaping the early United States and many democratic principles that continue to exist today.

The second group focused on changemakers from the 1800s. What immediately stood out to me was the creative newspaper theme they used throughout their slideshow. The design fit the historical period perfectly and made the presentation unique compared to the others. Instead of simply presenting information on standard slides, they created a format that felt like reading a newspaper from that era. The combination of photographs, illustrations, and historical images helped make the presentation both informative and visually appealing.

One of the people highlighted in this presentation was Harriet Tubman. Through the information presented, I gained a greater appreciation for the risks she took to help enslaved individuals escape to freedom. Her courage and commitment to helping others were remarkable, especially considering the dangers she faced. The visuals used by the group helped paint a picture of the difficult conditions of the time and allowed the audience to better understand the significance of her accomplishments. Her story demonstrated how determination and bravery can positively affect countless lives.

Another important changemaker discussed was Susan B. Anthony. The presentation explained how she devoted much of her life to advocating for women’s rights and pushing for greater equality. I found it interesting to learn about the challenges women faced during that period and the effort required to create social change. The group used historical photographs and examples from the women’s suffrage movement that helped bring the topic to life. Learning about Susan B. Anthony showed me that progress often happens because people are willing to dedicate years of effort toward a cause they believe in.

The group also presented information about Charles Darwin and his contributions to science. His research and observations helped transform the scientific understanding of how living things develop and change over time. What I found most interesting was learning how his ideas challenged existing beliefs and encouraged people to examine evidence more carefully. The diagrams and visuals used throughout the presentation made scientific concepts easier to follow and helped explain why his work remains important today. Darwin’s story illustrated the value of curiosity, research, and critical thinking in expanding human knowledge.

The third group examined changemakers from the 1900s. One detail that made their presentation memorable was the use of sound effects, including an eagle call that played during the introduction and conclusion. It was a creative addition that helped capture the audience’s attention. The group presented their information clearly and maintained good pacing throughout the presentation, making it easy to stay engaged.

Among the individuals featured was Princess Diana. I enjoyed learning more about her humanitarian efforts and the way she used her public platform to support charitable causes around the world. The photographs and videos included in the slideshow helped illustrate her connection with people from many different backgrounds. What stood out most to me was her compassion and willingness to bring attention to issues affecting vulnerable communities. Her story showed that kindness and empathy can inspire positive change just as much as political or social leadership.

The presentation also highlighted Michael Jackson. While most people know him because of his music career, the group explained how his influence extended far beyond entertainment. Through his performances, music videos, and global popularity, he helped shape modern pop culture and inspired generations of artists. The clips and images used throughout the presentation demonstrated the enormous reach of his work and the impact he had on audiences across the world. I found it interesting to see how creativity and artistic expression can be powerful tools for bringing people together and influencing society.

The final presentation was my group’s project, which focused on changemakers from the 2000s. I felt that our group created a presentation that was organized, professional, and visually consistent. We used a unified design throughout our slides, making the information easy to follow and visually appealing. Rather than concentrating on only one individual, we explored several modern changemakers, including Barack Obama and others who have contributed to society through leadership, advocacy, innovation, and public service. We also incorporated short videos that added context and allowed the audience to hear directly from some of the people being discussed. Another aspect of our presentation that I appreciated was the use of citations throughout the slides, which helped support our information and provided reliable sources for further research.

Looking back on all of the presentations, I learned something valuable from each changemaker discussed. Harriet Tubman taught me about courage and sacrifice. Susan B. Anthony demonstrated the importance of persistence and equality. Charles Darwin showed how scientific inquiry can change the way people understand the world. Princess Diana highlighted the impact of compassion and humanitarian service. Michael Jackson illustrated how creativity can influence people across cultures and generations. Barack Obama represented leadership, perseverance, and the ability to inspire others through public service.

One of the biggest things I noticed throughout this project was how much my group improved compared to our first presentation, which was my group’s presentation on the changemakers of the 2000s. As we gained more experience, we became more confident especially me speaking in front of an audience and explaining information clearly. Presentations became more polished, slides became more creative, and groups incorporated additional elements such as videos, sound effects, and stronger visual designs. It was clear that everyone became more comfortable using PowerPoint and more effective at public speaking. Overall, this project not only expanded my knowledge of historical and modern changemakers but also showed how much we grew as presenters, communicators, and teammates throughout the process.
