  Alejandro Martinez Theme blog   Overall, I really enjoyed watching all of the presentations. I could tell that every group put a lot of time and effort into researching their topics and preparing their projects. Even though everyone was working under the same general theme, each presentation felt different in its own way. I liked being able to see the different approaches that groups took and how each group presented the information they found. It was clear that everyone wanted to do a good job and share what they learned with the class.   One thing I appreciated about the presentations was that they gave me the opportunity to learn from my classmates. Sometimes it can be easy to just focus on reading the textbook or listening to lectures, but hearing students explain topics in their own words can make the information more interesting and easier to understand.   For our next class speech each group had to select a time period and a changemaker from that era. When the idea of studying changemakers was introduced I felt excited because I knew the assignment would be both interesting and meaningful particularly since it seems like we are living more for ourselves and less as a community in today's society. So learning about people who have worked to improve society for others offered a different viewpoint. A changemaker, in my opinion, is someone who identifies an issue or injustice and acts to bring about constructive change. Changemakers have a lasting impression on their communities and motivate others to make a difference, whether via leadership, creativity, advocacy, or bravery. This presentation project gave our class the opportunity to learn about influential individuals from different periods of history and understand how their actions helped shape the world we live in today. Each group focused on a different era and introduced several people whose leadership, determination, creativity, and dedication allowed them to leave a lasting impact on society. Although every presentation covered a different time period, they all shared a similar message: meaningful change often begins with people who are willing to take action and challenge the world around them.  When I think about change makers, I think about people who had the courage to challenge the world around them and make it better. These are individuals who influenced society through their actions, ideas, discoveries, or talents. Throughout history, there have been many people who changed the course of events and inspired future generations. Some of the change makers who stand out to me are Harriet Tubman, John Locke, Benjamin Franklin, Charles Darwin, Nellie Bly, and Michael Jackson. Even though they lived in different times and worked in different fields, they all made a lasting impact on the world. One of the most inspiring change makers to me is Harriet Tubman. What amazes me about her is the incredible courage she showed throughout her life. Harriet Tubman was born into slavery, but she refused to accept that life for herself or for others.   For today’s class, we had the second presentation project where we focused on the leaders or change makers from different eras. Generally, I liked listening to all the presentations since everyone managed to come up with something different and interesting. What is more, the managers performed exceptionally well introducing each group of people and concluding each presentation. In comparison to the first presentation, it is evident that all the groups managed to improve their skills of public speaking, structure, and creativity. To my mind, this group succeeded in introducing historical personalities as well as in delivering useful background information concerning the era. What impressed me most was the way they used educational videos in their presentation.
